Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Helyg in Blaina, 天美传媒, has been recognised for its hard work in supporting Young Carers at the school, by achieving the Care Collective鈥檚 Young Carer 鈥楤est Practice鈥� Award.
The Young Carer Lead Practitioner at the school, Miss Carys Jones said:
鈥淲e are delighted that our work has been recognised, but more importantly, it鈥檚 good to know that our Young Carer Group all feel well supported by the school community.鈥�

A large evidence file was presented to the panel, demonstrating the whole school鈥檚 commitment to supporting pupils as well as raising awareness of the issue.
Headteacher Ms Ann Toghill said:
鈥淲e are very proud of the work our Young Carers鈥� Group does to promote the issue within the school and we are so pleased that their efforts have been recognised by the awarding panel. My thanks go to Miss Jones and the Young Carers for leading the school so effectively on this聽- huge congratulations are in order!鈥�
The Young Carers in Schools programme, highlighted by Welsh Government as good practice, is currently funded by the Gwent Regional Partnership Board, Cardiff & Vale University Health Board and Monmouthshire Council.
The Young Carers in Schools Programme aims to provide schools with the tools and resources to support young carers and reduce negative impacts, giving young carers the same access to education and future life chances as their peers.
