Library Services achieve national high standards again.

Libraries in 天美传媒 continue to achieve the 12 core entitlements set out by the Welsh Public Library Standards.

Councillors at 天美传媒 Council鈥檚 Cabinet Meeting welcomed a report into the service鈥檚 performance which also shows both the number of active borrowers and books issued have increased.

Aneurin Leisure Trust is commissioned by the Council to run the Library Service across 天美传媒 and there are libraries in Abertillery, Ebbw Vale, Blaina, Brynmawr, Cwm and Tredegar plus the mobile service which supports the whole county. Under the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964 it is a statutory duty for every library authority (local authorities) in Wales to provide a 鈥榗omprehensive and efficient library service for all persons desiring to make use thereof鈥.

The Welsh Public Library Standards comprises of 12 core entitlements and a range of quality indicators.聽 This framework provides a mechanism to enable services to plan provision, set standards and demonstrate their value within local communities.聽 It also enables Welsh Government to assess performance of library services on a national level.

Councillor Sue Edmunds, the Council鈥檚 Cabinet Member for People & Education says:

鈥淟ibraries in 天美传媒 have been revitalised and really are at the heart of our communities, offering much more than just books. They are also home to the Council鈥檚 Community Hubs, bringing help and support with our services closer to the people who need it.

鈥淭he Cabinet welcomes this report and are appreciative of all the hard work going on to make libraries and their services attractive to people of all ages.鈥

Tracy Jones, Library Services Manager 天美传媒 Libraries (Aneurin Leisure Trust) added:

鈥淭he team has worked hard to ensure that everyone has a warm welcome at the libraries, and we are particularly delighted to see so many people of different ages coming through the libraries鈥 doors.聽 This reflects the many services we offer and the initiatives we have put in place such as the sports libraries, the new Welsh group and the many different activities that we run.
