天美传媒 towns are now open for business shop local and support your high streets
Following the latest Welsh Government review all non-essential businesses in Wales can reopen from Monday 22nd June. Therefore, we are encouraging residents to return to their local high street as soon as possible to support local businesses.
As the high street starts to reopen, our towns have a lot to offer. Ebbw Vale, Abertillery, Tredegar, Brynmawr and Blaina have some fantastic independent local retailers offering products that you can鈥檛 buy anywhere else, as well as offering high quality, fresh produce at affordable prices. These businesses have worked hard to survive the lockdown and will now need the support of their local community.
When shoppers do return, we want them shop safely. The requirement to stay local (within 5 miles of home) and social distancing measures remain in place so remember to stay at least 2 metres apart.
Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Regeneration and Economic Development Dai Davies said: 鈥淲e want to make sure that the local community knows what鈥檚 on offer on our high streets Some of our independent traders have some great products now shops can re-open is great news for our local economy.
It is great to see our high streets come back to life, even if they are different to before. So please shop local and support your local traders. They need your help more than ever before.
Throughout the pandemic the council has been working closely with town centre businesses to ensure they have the support they required. We have distributed over 拢4.7M in business support to over 450 high street businesses.
Many of our local businesses continue to go above and beyond to help others during the crisis, whether it鈥檚 through volunteer deliveries and other community support initiatives.
We have also been helping businesses to adapt and we have helped local traders adjust to new 鈥渉ome delivery鈥 and online services, and will continue to work with businesses to develop long-term resilient income streams once the high street reopens. So please shop local and above all shop safe.鈥
